Meeting with a Second Cousin

I met today with Judy (Blanton) Luthy.  She and her husband were on vacation in Utah.  She is a second cousin on my Dad's side.  We're not sure if we had met before, but if we had, it was when I was 5 and she was 3 in Carrollton, Texas, in 1947.  We're both descendants of Andrew Milton Smith and Sarah Eliza Briggs.

BYU Father-Son Basketball Camp - May 2010

Over the Memorial Day weekend, we enjoyed a wonderful Father-Son camp on the BYU campus. Here, some of the BYU players enjoy lunch between activity sessions.

"Music and the Spoken Word"

On Sunday morning, we were privileged to see and hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in the Salt Lake Tabernacle.

This is the Place Heritage Park

Following "Music and the Spoken Word" and a Sacrament Meeting in the Assembly Hall, we had lunch at this park that overlooks the Salt Lake Valley.

This is the Place Monument

This is the approximate location where Brigham Young first saw the Salt Lake Valley and said, "This is the Place."

Pete With Chad Lewis

Chad Lewis, who played for BYU and for the Philadelphia Eagles, was the speaker at the Sunday night fireside.

Three Generations

We were one of two families recognized for having three generations at the camp.

Road Island Diner

Last Monday, Mom and I went to see and eat at this diner. It was built in New Jersey in 1939. It was moved to Massachusetts, then to Rhode Island, and, in 2007, to Oakley, UT. It is fascinating. For 25 cents you can play the juke box from your table. Who knows where Oakley, UT is?
